At the Recruitment and Skills Centre, we are actively encouraging employers at Fort Kinnaird and the surrounding area to consider aspects of the Fair Work Convention. The Convention's vision is that by 2025, people in Scotland will have a
world-leading working life where fair work drives success, wellbeing and prosperity for individuals, businesses, organisations and society.
Through our Bright Lights courses, we have encouraged employers to provide the opportunity for participants to experience what it is like to work within Retail and Customer Service but more specifically, what it is like to work for
their particular organisation. In conjunction with our Employers, we have given participants the platform to give feedback on their placements, what they enjoyed and what they felt could be improved upon - thus giving them an effective voice in relation to the workplace.
Employers are encouraged to liaise with participants around suitable shift patterns which lays the foundations for respectful employer/employee relations. In addition to the almost complete eradication of zero hour contracts at Fort
Kinnaird, more and more of both our course participants and applicants moving into seasonal jobs are now being kept on and made permanent if they impress which displays a willingness from employers to provide fulfilling and secure opportunities.
We support local schools across our neighbouring regions, giving young people the chance to enhance their knowledge around the world of retail, customer service and hospitality. It also allows employers the opportunity to showcase the employee
benefits associated with their company and tell young people what a real working day really looks like.
Furthermore, Capital City Partnership and the Recruitment and Skills Centre are an advocate for Modern Apprenticeships and have a qualified Assessor who actively mentors Apprentices during their learning process. Apprenticeships are another
fantastic method of providing sustainable, developmental and secure jobs particularly for young people and we would be more than happy to share information on the varying types of apprenticeships available to any interested employers.
